Miami University is ranked in the Top 50 as one of the nation’s “Best Value Public Colleges,” the Princeton Review reports.
The education services company lists Miami as No. 38 among top public schools in its 2022 listings. Miami is among 209 schools selected from a pool of 650 the company considered this year.
“These are the nation’s top colleges for students seeking a superb education with great career preparation and at affordable prices,” according to the Princeton Review.
Miami also ranked in three other best value categories:
No. 9: Top 20 Best Schools for Internships (Public Schools)
No. 13: Top 50 Entrepreneurship: Undergrad
No. 24: Top 50 Game Design: Undergrad
"The schools we chose as our Best Value Colleges for 2022 are a select group: They comprise only about 7% of the nation’s four-year undergraduate institutions,” said Rob Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review. “These colleges are also exceptional for the generous amount of financial aid they award to students with need and/or for their comparatively low cost of attendance.”
Best Value Colleges for 2022 were selected based on data collected from fall 2022 through fall 2021 via Princeton Review’s institutional and student surveys and from PayScale.com on alumni career and salary statistics. More than 40 data points were weighted, covering academics, costs, financial aid, debt, grad rates, and career/salary data.
Data on the levels of job satisfaction and salary of school alumni also factored into the tallies.
Students agree
Student survey comments include: “Miami really prepares students for the real world after college.” The curriculum as a whole offers “a challenging academic workload” that truly tests a student’s abilities as well as “prepares students for the workplace after graduation while also giving them the opportunity to thrive while on campus.”
Students note Miami’s commitment to providing tools to help them to find jobs after college, including “career fairs, relationships with recruiters, supporting alumni, mock interview/resume workshops/career services, and teaching material that is applicable to future endeavors,” as well as the Miami CAREERlink database.
Miami’s Center for Career Exploration and Success “will help anyone find an internship or job,” another student said.
The Princeton Review recognized Miami in its annual book, The Best 387 Colleges, published in August.
Other noted recognitions include a top 50 ranking at No. 46 for best national public universities in the U.S.
