In addition to majors, the College of Arts and Science offers minors. A minor is a specific program to be taken along with a major to complement your skills and increase your career opportunities. The Russian minor is a particularly good option for those who have previous experience with the language (such as speaking it in the home) but have chosen a different major.

Students may also take advantage of scholarships, guest lectures, special courses, and study-abroad programs associated with the Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies. Miami is the only U.S. university to have such a center at an institution that is focused on undergraduate education.

A minimum cumulative 2.5 g.p.a. is required for courses taken at Miami. Courses must be taken for a grade (not credit/no-credit). Students planning to take this minor should consult with the chief departmental adviser.
