Open to all majors, this interdisciplinary minor provides exposure to principles and concepts of entrepreneurship applied to new venture start-up, small business growth, corporate innovation, and social organizations. This program complements majors in the business school and other divisions; it supports the application of creative thinking and entrepreneurial concepts and approaches to your major.
Objectives include the following:
- Recognizing and developing entrepreneurial potential
- Developing an understanding of entrepreneurship as a manageable process
- Developing creating thinking and creative problem solving tools for all aspects of business and life
- Using tools, frameworks, concepts, and perspectives that are helpful in recognizing how entrepreneurship works
- Appreciating the role that entrepreneurial attitudes and behaviors can play in personal and professional lives and in society at large
A minimum 2.0 g.p.a. is required for all courses in this minor. Courses must be taken for a grade (not credit/no-credit). For non-business majors, this minor satisfies the Thematic Sequence requirement of the Global Miami Plan. Students planning to take this minor should contact the Center below as soon as possible.
Admission to most Farmer School of Business minors is limited and the respective departments are responsible for managing their enrollments. Students may enroll in a maximum of two Farmer School of Business minors. Some minors are available to students on a first-come, first-served basis while others have entry restrictions or requirements. Therefore, to increase the likelihood of gaining entry into a FSB minor, interested students should contact the department offering the minor as early as possible in their academic careers. Completion of a FSB minor may require taking coursework during summer and winter terms and/or online.
