Muslims in early modern Europe topic of McClellan Lecture |

Benjamin Kaplan, professor of Dutch history at University College London, will present “Muslims in Early Modern Europe” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, in 1 Laws Hall. The talk is part of the history department’s McClellan Lecture Series, “New Perspectives on the Early Modern World: Intellectual, Artistic and Geographic Frontiers.” Kaplan specializes in the religious history of early modern Europe and in the history of the Low Countries in the 16th and 17th centuries. He is currently working on a book, Divided by Faith, a comparative study of the history of religious conflict and toleration across early modern Europe, and is researching the presence of Muslims in Christian Europe.
