Miami will award 950 diplomas at its fall commencement ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Millett Hall, with President James C. Garland presiding. Student speaker will be Kathryn L. Hone from the School of Fine Arts. Rex Huffman (Miami '72), president of the Miami University Alumni Association, will present brief remarks. Winner of the E. Phillips Knox Teaching Award, given annually to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching at the undergraduate level, will be announced. Organist Roderick E. Nimtz, assistant executive director at Miami Middletown, will present the music. Conferral of diplomas will include 82 associate's, 702 bachelor's, 148 master's, 15 doctorates and three specialists in education. |
