Capitol Steps brings political satire to Miami |
|
|
Political animals of all stripes will be equally skewered in a musical review by the Capitol Steps at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in Hall Auditorium. The performance is part of the Miami University Performing Arts Series, sponsored by Amerihost Inn & Suites and Kona Bistro. The troupe will perform selections from their latest albums, “Papa's Got a Brand New Baghdad” and “Between Iraq and a Hard Place,” as well as material inspired by the 2004 presidential election. Capitol Steps includes performers who have worked on Capitol Hill, some for Republicans, some for Democrats, and some for members who sit firmly on the fence. Those in the current cast are former employees of 11 U.S. senators and seven members of the House of Representatives. Over the past 20 years, Capitol Steps has recorded 23 albums and appeared on “Good Morning America,” the “Today” show, “20/20,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Nightline” and CNN's “Inside Politics,” as well as dozens of times on National Public Radio's “All Things Considered.” They have been featured in three national specials for public television and performed for five U.S. presidents. Tickets are $16 for adults, $15 for senior citizens and $8 for students and youth. For tickets or more information, call the Miami box office at 9-3200 or order online at www.tickets.muohio.edu. |
