Esteemed conductor to lead Miami Wind Ensemble |

Frederick Fennell will guest conduct the Miami University Wind Ensemble in a concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Fennell, the founding conductor of the Eastman Wind Ensemble, has shaped the band-conducting profession, repertoire and practices for more than 50 years. Fennell will spend a four-day residency at Miami. Featured on the concert will be Percy Grainger’s “Lincolnshire Posy,” Joaquin Turina’s “La Procession du Rocio,” Ron Nelson’s Passacaglia (Homage on B-A-C-H), Virgil Thomson’s “A Solemn Music” and William Schuman’s “George Washington Bridge.” Gary A. Speck is director of the ensemble. Tickets are $3 for students and senior citizens and $6 for other adults. Tickets are available at the box office, 9-3200.
