Parade to kick off Band Day Sept. 18

Twelve high-school bands will join the Miami University Marching Band for the 50th annual Band Day Saturday, Sept. 18.

The bands will march in a parade starting at High Street and College Avenue in Oxford at 12:15 p.m. The parade will proceed down High Street, turn onto Bishop Street and end at Yager Stadium where Miami's football team will play Ohio University. The halftime show will feature “The Music of Billy Joel.”

Participating bands and their directors include: Millersport, Noelle Harkabus; Ansonia, Jeff Grube; Walton-Verona, Mike Daulton; Peebles, Scott Moore; Liberty Benton, Zach Thomas; New Richmond, Andres Carr; Madison, Dan Stoutenborough; Lemon-Monroe, Paul Mann; West Clermont, James Pease; South Ripley, Eric Stauffer; Talawanda, Jason Sivill; and Winton Woods, Dani Ashbrook.

David Shaffer is the director of the Miami band.
