Anthropologist Dorothy Hodgson will speak on "Gendered Modernities: Being Maasai Men and Women" at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, in the Center for Black Culture and Learning display room in Warfield Hall. Hodgson, associate professor of anthropology at Rutgers University, has had long-term research experience among the Maasai in Tanzania. She is author and editor of several books including Once Intrepid Warriors: Gender, Ethnicity and the Cultural Politics of Maasai Development. Hodgson’s talk is co-sponsored by the black world studies and international studies programs, the Center for American and World Cultures, the departments of anthropology and comparative religion, the office of multicultural services at Miami Hamilton, the office of multicultural student enrichment and the women’s center. Free and open to the public. |
