Robert G. Everett, IT director for Morton Salt Group, will present a public lecture, "Mathematics After Graduation — A Business Perspective," at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in 101 Bachelor Hall. Everett earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Miami in 1975, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. "Robert has displayed a flexible intellect and an ability to solve significant problems — especially practical problems that involve both technical issues and ‘people’ issues in corporate environments," said Fred Gass (mathematics and statistics). Everett has been a programmer for the Federal Reserve, a scientific assistant at Argonne National Laboratory, an applications programmer for CNA Insurance and senior systems analyst for General American Transportation Corp. Everett has risen through several managerships and directorships to his current position as director for information technology and strategy and enterprise requirement/resource planning. "Robert is an excellent role model for Arts and Science students who are encouraged to pursue the studies that most attract them, yet often have doubts about the world beyond college," Gass said. A reception will be held at 3:30 p.m. in 115 Bachelor Hall. |
