Buckeye poet returns to give reading |

Prize-winning poet David Wagoner will give a public reading of his work at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in 101 Bachelor Hall. Born in Massillon, Wagoner has published 16 books of poems, most recently Traveling Light: Collected and New Poems (U. of Illinois Press, 1999), winner of the William Stafford Award given by Pacific Northwest Booksellers. He has also published 10 novels, one of which, The Escape Artist, was made into a movie by Francis Ford Coppola. A chancellor of the Academy of American Poets for 23 years, he has taught at the University of Washington since 1954 and has been the editor of Poetry Northwest since 1966. Wagoner’s reading is sponsored by the department of English and the Ohio Poetry Circuit. |
