Grants increase recycling

Miami’s recycling program recently received two grant awards from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

A $6,600 grant will enable Miami to establish a new recycling collection service for the growing number of on-campus special events. Grant funds will help purchase recycling containers and a baler.

A $15,000 grant will be used to evaluate the handling of materials, equipment and labor use at Miami’s recycling center. Since its recent collaboration with the Butler County Solid Waste District, the Miami recycling center serves a large segment of Butler County’s population, providing homeowners of area townships a drop-off recycling program as well as providing services to state, county and municipal buildings in the city of Hamilton.
