Theodore Ziolkowski, professor of German and comparative literature and former dean of the Graduate School at Princeton University, will speak on "The Romantic Idea of Europe" at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Room 100 of the art building. Ziolkowski is author or editor of 25 books. The Mirror of Justice: Literary Reflections of Legal Crisis received Phi Beta Kappa’s Christian Gauss Prize in 1999. His talk is part of a universitywide focus on Romanticism initiated with Larry Peer’s appointment as Altman Distinguished Professor in the Humanities for the 2000-2001 academic year. The celebration culminates in November 2001 when Miami will host the annual meeting of the American Conference on Romanticism. Free and open to the public. |
