Curious Crayons offers a way for early childhood teachers to bring science into their classrooms. Targeted to ages 3-8, the book includes 19 hands-on activities designed to build science process skills, including observing, communicating, comparing, measuring and organizing. The book follows National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) guidelines and National Science Education Standards for developmentally appropriate curriculums. The book is co-written by Ann Veith, retiree of Rosedale Elementary School, Middletown; Beverly Kutsunai, Kamehameha Elementary School, Honolulu, Hawaii; and Lynn Hogue, Miami University Center for Chemistry Education. Mickey Sarquis, director of the center, is the editor. Curious Crayons is part of the Big Science for Little Hands book series that provides young learners with the foundation for a lifetime of science learning - both in and beyond the classroom.
