Miami University will present 734 diplomas at its fall commencement 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in Millett Hall. President David Hodge will preside over the ceremony.
Osama Ettouney, chair and professor of mechanical and manufacturing engineering, will give the commencement address. A member of Miami's faculty for 22 years, Ettouney was named the 2008-2009 Effective Educator and was the first recipient of the Knox Teaching Award in 1995. His research interests in engineering, teaching and the history of technology focus on computer integrated manufacturing systems; classroom pedagogy and learning technologies; and the impact of engineering on society, especially in Egypt.
Amy Baumgartner Bryant (Miami '96), president of the Miami University Alumni Association, will present brief remarks.
The winner of the E. Phillips Knox Teaching Award, given annually to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching at the undergraduate level, will be announced.
The Presser Hall Brass Quintet will present the music.
Conferral of diplomas will include 67 associate's, 576 bachelor's, 81 master's, eight doctorates and two certificates.
