Thursday, Dec. 11, news from Columbus indicated recent financial projections for a possible scenario of funding levels for FY 2010 and 2011 remaining flat.
If that happened, the projection is that the State of Ohio would face a $7.3 billion deficit. The news went on to estimate that if the deficit were to be addressed solely through cuts in agency budgets, each agency would take a 25 percent cut in agency funding levels.
Please note the projections, including projected cuts in funding for higher education, are part of an analysis made public in order to educate Ohioans about the extent of the budget problem ahead if the state doesn't get significant federal help.
The analysis does not reflect actual recommendations nor conditions in the state.
