Oxford police report multiple burglaries over the Thanksgiving break involving homes of Miami students.
Break-ins or attempted break-ins were reported in these blocks at various times from Nov. 25-30:
100 block of S. Beech St. Police found a door had been kicked in and the door jamb broken.
200 block of S. Beech St. A window was forced open.
500 block of N. Campus Ave. A crow bar had been used to pry open a door.
300 block of N. Campus
200 block of W. Collins. A window was broken and door damaged.
200 W. Withrow St. A glass door was broken and a window forced open.
Among items reported as stolen are many flat-screen TVs, video game consoles and games, CDs and DVDs.
Residents are advised to engrave or otherwise place identifying tags in a non-conspicuous location on valuable items.
Also, Oxford police offer a vacation house check service that alerts the police department when no one will be home for a night, weekend or extended break. Residents, including students, can sign up for the service here:

Police remind students that if they are alone, asleep or away from their homes, to lock first-floor doors and windows.
