University Senate action Nov. 17

University Senate, meeting Nov. 17, approved foreign language education as a new subject and heard reports from Provost Jeffrey Herbst on Altiris software; Graduate School Dean Bruce Cochrane of the ad hoc committee on graduate program prioritization; and Jeanne Hey, chair of the fiscal priorities and budget planning committee, on university budget background information.

The next meeting of University Senate will be at 3:05 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, in 111 Harrison Hall.

Senate received the consent calendar and, with the approval of the Nov. 3 minutes, adopted SR 09-07:

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate adopts foreign language education as a new subject within the Master of Arts in Teaching, School of Education, Health, and Society, Department of Teacher Education.

Twenty-five members of Faculty Assembly can challenge the resolution by filing a petition with the Secretary of the University during the ten class days after publication in the e-Report.
