The Miami University Blood Donor Program makes it possible for Miami faculty and staff to help assure themselves, their families and the community a safe and ready blood supply.
This program covers all faculty and staff eligible for university provided benefits, as well as part time employees working at least 20 hours per week. The blood needs of Miami University faculty and staff and their families who live within Community Blood Center's (CBC's) 13-county service area are covered by the program, even if they don't contribute to it. If blood is used by faculty and staff, their spouses, dependent children, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents or grandparents-in-law anywhere outside CBC's 13-county area, any non-replacement fees will be covered.
In order to attain Miami's designated goal, 13 percent of all eligible faculty and staff and/or family members must donate at least one unit of blood each year. The goal averages 373 units a year. Faculty and staff or family members who cannot donate for legitimate medical or other reasons can designate another relative or friend to give in their name.
