More than 50 scholarships, awards and grants were presented to Miami University department of music students at a reception held April 29.
"This is one way that the department can show its appreciation to those students who go the extra mile in their personal work and make special contributions to the department in any variety of ways," says Greg Phillips, associate professor and a member of one of the committees that determined recipients.
Music's most prestigious award, the Presser Foundation Scholarship, was given to Sean Lair, a senior music performance major from Stanford, Ky. The award is based on scholarship, professional promise and departmental worth.
