"Orienting the Russian Empire," the Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies' 2006 International Young Researchers Conference, will take place Oct. 26-28.

Featured keynote speakers include:

• "Using Lermontov in Russia and Chechnya Today," Margaret Ziolkowski (GREAL), at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in 111 Harrison Hall;

• "Thirty-Five Years of Observing Eurasia: The More Things Change the More They Stay the Same," William Fierman, Indiana University, at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, in 40 Irvin Hall;

• "Living Empire: Understanding Multiethnic Eurasia in the Modern Era," Nicholas Breyfogle, Ohio State University, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in 212 MacMillan Hall.
