"Orienting the Russian Empire," the Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies' 2006 International Young Researchers Conference, will take place Oct. 26-28.

• "Living Empire: Understanding Multiethnic Eurasia in the Modern Era," Nicholas Breyfogle, Ohio State University, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in 212 MacMillan Hall.
