WMUB received 11 awards, including four first-place awards, in the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters awards competition. WMUB was recognized in the medium market radio category. Awards were announced at a June 1 luncheon in Columbus.
WMUB awards include:
• First place, best use of sound, Cheri Lawson for "Women on Wheels."
• Second place, best use of sound, Gary Scott for "Oxford Celebrates Martin Luther King Day."
• First place, best broadcast writing, Gary Scott for "Bela Fleck on Banjo."
• Second place, best feature reporting, Tana Weingartner, "Geocaching."
• First place, extraordinary coverage of a scheduled event, Cheri Lawson and John Hingsbergen, "Creation Museum."
• Second place, extraordinary coverage of a scheduled event, Tana Weingartner, "Nuxhall Funeral."
• Second place, best continuing coverage, Cheri Lawson and John Hingsbergen, "Creation Museum."
• Second place, best enterprise reporting, Tana Weingartner, "Polling Locations in Schools."
• Second place, best anchor, Cheri Lawson.
• First place, best reporter, Tana Weingartner.
• Second place, best regularly scheduled news, Cheri Lawson and the WMUB news department.
