Miami Glee Club to China for pre-Olympic festivities

Sixty members of the Miami University Men's Glee Club directed by Ethan Sperry will be in China June 3-15 to perform for pre-Olympic events.

Glee Club performances include:

• Concert and exchange with students at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and Liaoning Normal University in Dalian (headquarters of Miami's Confucius Institute).

• Gala performances at the Great Wall of China and Forbidden City.

• Final concert at the Oriental Art Center in Shanghai. "This is the most prestigious concert venue in China," says Sperry, "China's equivalent to Carnegie Hall."

The trip is supported by many offices at Miami including the offices of the president and provost, School of Fine Arts, Parents Council, Confucius Institute and department of music.
