During an April 30 awards ceremony, Miami University's department of French and Italian honored student achievement. Also, officers from Miami's chapter of the national French honor society Pi Delta Phi presented the award for professor of the year to Patricia Reynaud.
Reynaud is associate professor of French, specializing in cultural studies and in the European discourses on globalization and alterglobalization.
Recognition awards for Italian students included: Amira Akrabawi Giesecke Scholarships to Roxanna Fields, Erin Haas, Monica Sberna and Brian Southard; Peter Pedroni Summer Language Institute award to Robert Clines; and Joseph A. Russo Scholarships to Austin Fast, Caitlin McDevitt and Laura Telepak.
French master's candidate awards from the Beverly Branch Fund were given to Joseph Bingle, Ashlee Cummings, Soosun Kussman, Claire Menard and Kerry Polley; and other recognition to Simone Dubrovic, Marianne Goncalo and Beatrice Omwomo.
French honor students recognized included John D'Amico, Gina Stamm, Taylor Dimke, Lauren Fleming, Sara Hathaway, Alexandra Newman, Lindsay Hearon and Janine Saliba.
Undergraduate French awards were presented to: Kelsey Fenn, Edgar Ewing Brandon Prize; Sara Hathaway, Naomi Miller Cox French Prize; Ryan Collins, Dana Cretu and Alexandra Newman, Charlotte M. Crawford French Scholarships; Gina Stamm, Cynthia Robinson First Memorial Scholarship; Sandra Ampadu-Asiamah and Emma Douthwaite, L.P. Irvin Awards for Study Abroad; Dan Beck, Andrew Berlas, Rita Dainko, John D'Amico, Taylor Dimke, Lauren Fleming, Lindsey Hearon, Melanie Krook, Rachel Perry, Janine Saliba, Leah Straka, Brian Walsh and Ashley Wilson, William Marion Miller French Scholarships; and Andrew Freilich, L.H. Skinner Award in French.
French and Italian also presented gifts to the following students in recognition of outstanding scholarship and service: Alyson Bancroft, Ashley Benson, Allison Blocksom, Emily Canfil, Shawn Dubberly, Cortnie Gill, Alex Kirkpatrick, Natalie Klotz, Emily Philips-Roth, Lacey Poole, Ryan Tamm and Marie Wevers.
