In 1974 Dale Gabbard (master building service worker) began creating what is now a 300-pound rubber band ball. Gabbard, who used to have a drug problem and started working on the ball again to occupy his time, uses the ball as part of anti-drug talks at schools and other venues to encourage people to find a hobby instead of doing drugs.
