ShareFest May 8-12

04/29/2008

"Don't Throw It Out! Make It Count!" are words to live by during ShareFest, held during Miami's move-out week Thursday, May 8, through Monday, May 12. Students are asked to donate useable items they can't take with them to ShareFest: Items go to people in Butler County who need them, with last year's ShareFest benefiting more than 300 families.

Items may be dropped off at two centers in Oxford or at designated areas at residence halls or picked up curbside. Arrangements may be made for pickup of heavy items.

Needed donations include mattresses and box springs, bedding, sofas, chairs,
dressers, chests, shelves and filing cabinets, kitchen/dining tables and chairs, end tables, desks, unopened, nonperishable foods, small appliances, microwaves and kitchenware, televisions, fans, window air conditioners, unused toiletries,
cleaning supplies, school supplies, tools and clothing.

Also needed are volunteers to help collect, sort and distribute items.

Not needed are items in poor condition, with missing parts or requiring reassembly, construction materials, non-working appliances or items infested with bedbugs.
ShareFest, in its fourth year, is a collaboration between many Miami University organizations, the city of Oxford, Butler County, local community groups and businesses, with support from the Duke Energy Corporation.

For more information about where and how to donate, or to volunteer, go to www.units.muohio.edu/sharefest or contact ShareFest coordinator Jamey Rutschilling at sharefestoxford@gmail.com.
