Miami ROTC holds annual Presidential Review

On April 5, 120 cadets and midshipmen from the Miami University Air Force and Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) conducted the 62nd annual Presidential Review before President David Hodge and more than 250 family and friends at Millett Hall.

Captain Steven Maynard (Miami '79), United States Navy, received the Admiral Sidney W. Sours award, presented annually to a graduate of Miami's NROTC unit. Captain Maynard also spoke to cadets and midshipmen.

Also as part of the program, the NROTC Sentries Drill Team performed and the air wing of cadets and battalion of midshipmen marched in review.

Scholarship and award presentations were made totaling $65,000.
In other spring activities, Miami's NROTC took third overall in a competition held at Purdue University in late March. Seven schools competed. Miami sent 21 members, accompanied by Lt. Rich McCandless and Ssgt. Dean Francini. The Miami color guard won first place and the pistols team finished third.
