Michael Dantley (educational leadership, associate dean of the School of Education and Allied Professions) will become associate provost at Miami effective July 1.
Dantley taught at Miami 1986-1990 and returned in 1999. He teaches graduate courses in school administration, organizational leadership and change theories. He serves as the coordinator of the School Leadership Program, a master's degree program for students pursuing the degree and licensure for the principalship, and as departmental representative to the Ohio Principals' Entry Year Program.
"Michael brings an extraordinary knowledge of Miami and a wealth of experience and strengths to the office," said Jeffrey Herbst, provost.
Dantley earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Pennsylvania, a master's at Miami and a doctorate at the University of Cincinnati. He performed postdoctoral studies at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
He will replace John Skillings, who is retiring as vice provost.
