Miami University trustees have named David K. Creamer to be Miami's vice president for finance and business services and treasurer, effective June 1.
Creamer is currently the senior vice president for administration at Kent State University, a position he has held since 2002.
In his position, Creamer oversees both the financial and business functions for Kent State, including departments such as facilities, capital planning and construction, the university budget, cash and investment management and risk management.
Creamer was vice president for business and finance and treasurer at Kent State from 1998 to 2002. Prior to that, he served as vice president for finance and planning and treasurer at University of Alaska in Fairbanks, and in related positions at Shawnee State University and Iowa State University.
"David Creamer is a proactive leader, who is highly knowledgeable about higher education and its challenges. His extensive experience in finance, and his energy and enthusiasm, will help Miami navigate the challenges ahead and achieve our vision for the future," said Miami University President David Hodge.
Creamer also plays an active role in community affairs, as a member of the boards of directors of the Better Business Bureau and Kent Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Kent State University Accounting Advisory Board and Ohio Higher Education Funding Commission.
He replaces Richard Norman, who retired from the post in December.
