Gov. Ted Strickland has announced the appointment of Harry T. Wilks of Hamilton to Miami's board of trustees for a nine-year term ending in February 2017.
Wilks, a retired Hamilton attorney and businessman, will replace Toledo attorney Kathleen Zouhary, whose term expires this February.
Wilks received national recognition as the founder of Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum located in Hamilton. In 2002, Wilks pledged $5 million to establish the Harry T. Wilks Leadership Institute at Miami. The leadership institute officially opened in March 2004.
Wilks also sponsors a scholarship program at Miami University Hamilton and an endowed lecture series that brings national and international speakers to the regional campus.
"Harry has already had a profound impact on Miami as well as on Hamilton," President David Hodge said. "We look forward to having him contribute even more to the university through his service on the board of trustees.
