Miami University has announced the formation of a new resource for organizations and individuals throughout the region, the Miami University Corporate and Community Institute. The name reflects the regional approach that the institute will take as it provides solutions to the training needs of organizations and individuals.
The new name also reflects the merging of the continuing education functions on Miami's Middletown and Hamilton campuses and the future expansion to the Voice of America Learning Center, scheduled to open in January 2009.
Patricia McNab has been named the institute's senior director. She joined Miami Middletown in 2001 as program manager in the office of continuing education and Business and Industry Center and has served as Middletown's acting director since 2006. Prior to this she held marketing positions at Reynolds and Reynolds in Dayton. She received a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Cincinnati.
For business and industry, the Corporate and Community Institute emphasizes training customized for the individual client. "Today, competitive advantage depends most critically on the skills of the workforce," said McNab. "As the work force is changing, so is the way employees are being trained for continuing success in the rapidly changing marketplace. The Corporate and Community Institute is poised to help area employers achieve performance excellence through programs focused on executive coaching, organizational development, quality and safety management, technology, human resource planning, job profiling and customer service, to name a few."
An EnterpriseOhio Network affiliate, the Corporate and Community Institute is part of a statewide alliance designed to promote the growth and development of Ohio businesses.
For the individual, the institute will continue to offer non-credit courses in professional development, computer technology, personal enrichment, online learning, fitness and summer youth programs.
"Our team of experienced work-force development specialists are ready to assist organizations, large and small, with defining needs and implementing innovative solutions quickly, competently and cost effectively to achieve their greatest potential," said Kathy Weber, director of the Corporate and Community Institute, Hamilton campus. "You can count on the Corporate and Community Institute to be reliable, innovative and flexible in meeting your work-force development needs."
