19th annual African American Read-in to be Feb. 4

Miami's 19th annual African American Read-In, part of a worldwide initiative to raise awareness of the contributions by black writers, will be 1-4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in 320 King Library. Miami faculty, staff and students will participate in the Read-In, which is held in conjunction with Oxford's Lane Public Library and the Talawanda School District. It is sponsored by the university's libraries diversity committee.

"The African American Read-In has been an important component of the communities of Oxford and Miami University's Black History Month activities," said Lindsay Midkiff Miller, outreach services librarian. "It is through the participation and support of the university and the community that this event has been an ongoing success throughout the years."

Members of the communities are invited to read a selection by an African-American author and listen to others read.
