Miami's office of ethics and conflict resolution has found two fraternities at Miami University responsible for violating the Code of Student Conduct, Section 105B (Prohibited use of alcohol).
The Mu Psi chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu and the Ohio Lambda chapter of Phi Kappa Psi were both reported to have served alcohol to minors at a party at each of their off-campus houses in September.
At an administrative hearing conducted Oct. 12, Phi Kappa Psi fraternity admitted to providing alcohol to minors; at an administrative hearing Nov. 1, Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity admitted to providing alcohol to minors.
The following sanction has been imposed on both fraternities:
The members of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity and of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity must complete an alcohol education course with 80 percent of their members attending and 100 percent of any new member class attending.
