Miami's department of communication will hold the Allyn and Bacon COM 135 Speech Showcase at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, in 100 Laws Hall. Eight speakers from Miami's public expression and critical inquiry classes will compete for cash prizes.
Students chosen to participate are: Bradley Nemeth, sophomore business major; Kristen Pangrazio, sophomore communication major; Rob Welling, junior finance major; Jillian Brundage, junior marketing major; Tracy Fleisher, graduate student in integrated language arts education; Jamie Timoteo, junior finance major; Zack Thurman, senior zoology major; and Jennifer Wagner, sophomore communication major. Students were selected by their peers and instructors.
A panel of three judges will award $500 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place. An "audience choice" winner also will be selected by those attending and awarded $75. Cash prizes were donated by Allyn and Bacon, showcase sponsor.
