Miami e-mail back in operation

A new e-mail server for Miami University has been installed and e-mail service is now restored.

To prevent the spread of computer viruses through e-mail, MCIS will begin processing all incoming e-mail through virus-scrubbing servers. If infected attachments are detected, those attachments will be discarded and the intended recipient will receive a notification that this action has taken place.

At the end of spring semester, the PO was handling 600,000 POP3 connections daily from 12,000 clients.
