Miami Universitys undergraduate accounting program is sixth in the nation, according to CPA Personnel Reports 20th Annual Professors Survey - 2001. More than 150 accounting department chairs and professors from colleges and universities throughout the United States ranked undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. Miamis undergraduate program is consistently listed among the 10 best in the nation, having been ranked 8th in 1999 and 9th in 2000. For the first time, Miamis graduate accounting program also made the surveys top 20 graduate programs: It is ranked as 18th best in the nation. "Miami has always been known as providing an excellent undergraduate liberal arts education, so its quite an accomplishment for a graduate program to receive this recognition," said John Cumming, chair and professor of accountancy. As a result of CPA exam requirements jumping to 150 hours for students, Miamis and other accounting masters programs have grown substantially: Miamis enrollment went from 14 to 50 students in two years. That growth and competition among schools for graduate students has brought recognition for Miamis program, Cumming added. |
