Miami University is among the colleges and universities taking advantage of recent changes in the Campus Security Act that allow campuses to meet federal crime reporting requirements via an on-line report. Every Miami student, faculty and staff member will receive a letter indicating the availability of the report at www.muohio.edu/righttoknow/. The Web site makes crime statistics available 24 hours a day year-round, said university officials. However, anyone who also wants a traditional paper copy may call Miami police at 529-2222 to request one. Miamis "Your Right to Know" report includes the following information: Crime statistics for the past three calendar years.
For the past 10 years, federal law has required colleges and universities to annually report crimes on their campuses under what is often called the "Right to Know" legislation. Miami also is posting other reports on the Web including its annual Equity in Athletics Disclosure Report and a report on privacy and release of student education records. Both will be available off the Right to Know site as will a graduation rate site that is currently under construction. |
