The Scripps Gerontology Center will hold a conference, "Recruiting and Retaining Paraprofessional Frontline Workers in Long-Term Care," Thursday and Friday, May 15-16, at the Marcum Conference Center. The conference will try to answer questions about who will provide long-term care services and how to attract and keep home health aides, certified nursing assistants, dietary aides and other front-line workers to meet current and projected needs. Presenters will include keynote speaker Karl Pillemer, nationally recognized gerontologist and author of Solving the Frontline Crisis in Long-term Care; Marcus Molea, chief of community services development at the Ohio Department of Aging; Margaret McNally, national program director of Project L.I.N.C. (Ladders in Nursing Careers); and Margaret MacAdam, senior vice-president at the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care in Toronto. Cost of the conference is $75 and includes conference materials and breakfast and lunch Friday. Scholarships are available for paraprofessional front-line workers.
