OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University's School of Education and Allied Professions has been awarded a $270,664 grant from the Ohio Department of Education to provide training for implementation of new state licensure standards. The project, "Entry Year Programs for Partnership and Beginning-Year Teachers," is one of only 17 selected from 56 proposals. Dr. David Killian, chair and professor of teacher education, is the project director. He says that as many as 34 Southwest Ohio schools could participate in the program, which incorporates performance assessment of beginning teachers and for mentoring teachers. The project includes Pathwise training for first-year teacher mentors and the training of Praxis III assessors, drawn from the ranks of teachers and administrators selected from Miami's partnership schools and Miami faculty. Middletown City School District will be the fiscal agent for the grant. |
