Dunlevy Awarded Fulbright Grant

OXFORD, Ohio -- James A. Dunlevy, professor of economics at

Miami University, has been awarded a Fulbright grant to conduct research and

teach at the University of Munich, Germany during the 1997-98 academic year.

Dunlevy's research has included studies of United States foreign trade, the

impact of foreign aid, and the theory of migration and the determinants of

migrant settlement.

At Munich he will pursue his studies of both historical and contemporary

migrations to the United States. He will also investigate the European origins

of 19th century European emigration to the Americas.

Dunlevy joined Miami's economics department in 1980 after teaching at Colby

College and Auburn University. He recently stepped down as director of Miami's

international studies program.

He has taught courses in international economics and international studies,

chairing the university's committee on international education and teaching in

the Richard T. Farmer School of Business Administration's summer program in

Austria.

Dunlevy received a bachelor's degree from Lehigh University and master's and

doctorate degrees from Northwestern University.

He is one of approximately 1,600 U.S. grantees who will travel abroad for the

1997-98 academic year under the Fulbright program.

Established under Congressional legislation introduced by former Sen. J.

William Fulbright, the program is administered by the U.S. Information Agency.

Scholarships are awarded through open competition, with final selections made

by the Foreign Scholarship Board.
