Miami Students Mark Hunger & Homelessness Week

OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University's Service Network is sponsoring

Hunger and Homelessness Week Saturday-Friday, Nov. 15-21, in cooperation with

Habitat for Humanity, Circle K and Students Serving Others.

The program includes a Saturday, Nov. 15 project at the Oxford mobile home

park helping with distribution of donated clothing; a shantytown set up in

front of Shriver Center Monday, Nov. 17; and a coffeehouse in the Tappan Hall

basement at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 featuring people who are currently homeless

and representatives of Habitat for Humanity, Oxford Advisory Welfare and the

Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless.

Other projects include a Wednesday, Nov. 19 Pledge-a-Meal in which dining

hall patrons pledge to skip one pre-paid meal and the university donates a

percentage of the savings to Habitat for Humanity, Oxford Advisory Welfare and

the Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless. Last year more than $2,000 was

raised.

On Thursday and Friday, Nov. 20-21, Students Serving Others and members of

Circle K will collect donations for homeless causes at Shriver Center and the

recreational sports center.
