OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami's Partners in Learning program is teaming up with Apple Computer Inc. to unveil the Miami University/Partners in Learning Interchange Web site. The site, essentially a virtual curriculum database, will feature forums, resources, ongoing projects, e-mail and chat areas as well as links to the Apple Learning Interchange, said Douglas M. Brooks, director of Partners in Learning and professor of teacher education. Miami students will be able to create units of curriculum and post them for a national audience, Brooks said. "Miami is the first university in the country to develop an associated, but independent Apple Learning Interchange Web site," Brooks said. "Events like this give the Miami community an opportunity to demonstrate our cutting edge role in bringing the best of the information age to our students and faculty, and renewing professional education." Representatives from Apple, the Alliance for Classroom Technology and the Office of Information Learning and Technology Services, as well as Miami's School of Education and Allied Professions will participate in a virtual ribbon cutting ceremony for the new site from 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in 378 McGuffey Hall.
