OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University's first Interactive Media Studies Conference on the Internet, higher education and industry will be held Friday, Nov. 20, at the Marcum Conference Center. Executives from Procter & Gamble, the New York Times Syndicate Online, Chicago Tribune Interactive and other prominent organizations will participate in panel discussions on how the Internet and the World Wide Web are changing journalism, advertising and marketing. Industry's needs for research on interactive media and the potential for collaborative efforts with higher education will be among the topics. The free event is open to faculty, students and others interested in the digital future, said organizers Linda Crider and Dennis Walsh, journalism faculty members who are creating a Center for Interactive Media Studies at Miami. The conference schedule includes:
"The panelists are nationally recognized leaders in new media and e-commerce, " Walsh said. "They are coming to share their vision of the digital future and the role of higher education. Moreover, they're here to offer suggestions for collaborative research. It's a unique opportunity for Miami to create innovative and exciting pathways along the information highway." The conference is sponsored in cooperation with the 18th Miami Lilly Conference on Teaching. |
