Miami University has announced spring semester events as part of the university's Native American theme for the 1998-99 school year.

Works By Warhol

Andy Warhol's entire cowboy and Indian series will be among the 22 works on display Feb. 2 - March 28 at the art museum.

Looking For Buffalo Bill: Doing Creative Research

Native American novelist James Welch, author of Winter in the Blood, Fool's Crow and Killing Custer, will speak at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the Bachelor Reading Room.

Rock Climbers, American Indians, Texas Parks & Wildlife and Archaeologists: Who Is The Enemy at Hueco Tanks?

Adolph Greenberg and George Esber, professors of anthropology, will talk about recent access regulations at Hueco Tanks State Historical Park at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in 115 Shideler Hall.

Balancing Spirit, Nature and Everyday Life in the New Millennium

Alicia Fedelina Gonzales Chàvez, professor of educational leadership, will lead a discussion on considering relationships with spirituality and nature in daily life at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Shriver Center Heritage Room. Also, Spirit and Nature will be shown, featuring messages from the Dalai Lama, a Native American elder, a rabbi, an Islamic scholar and a Protestant minister.

Eileen Tway Children's Literature Conference

Two keynote speakers of Abenaki ancestry will featured at this annual event, held from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, in Shriver Center: Joseph Bruchac, storyteller and author of more than 50 books for children and adults, and James Bruchac, storyteller and outdoor specialist.

Incident at Ogala

This video tells the story of Leonard Peltier, a Native American imprisoned for life after a gun battle with the FBI at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It will be shown at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 4, in the Shriver Center multipurpose room.

A Little Matter of Genocide Ward Churchill, associate professor of American Indian studies and communication and associate director of the Center for Studies of Ethnicity and Race in America at the University of Colorado-Boulder, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, in the Shriver Center Heritage Room.

Reinventing Indian Country: Images and Attitudes of Native American Cultures Bernard Comeau, assistant professor of religion at Hamilton College and an expert in Native American religions, will speak at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 11, in 111 Harrison Hall.

Another Place and Time: Visiting Four Native American Sites Alan Engel, professor emeritus of political science, and Sondra Engel will give an illustrated talk on the Aztec, New Mexico; Mesa Verde; Tuzi Goot and Bandelier sites at noon Saturday, April 20, at the art museum.
