President David Hodge has appointed Sally Lloyd, professor of Educational Leadership and Women's Studies, to serve as interim associate vice president of institutional diversity while a national search continues for a person to lead the university's diversity efforts on a permanent basis.
Hodge announced in January that he was changing the diversity position, which had been split between the president's and provost's offices, to the associate vice president level, with the position reporting fulltime directly to the president. The person in this redefined position will be charged with advancing diversity objectives throughout the university through advocacy, coordination and education.
Lloyd will start her interim duties Aug. 1, and continue until the position is filled. She has served in multiple administrative roles at Miami, including department chair, associate dean and interim dean of the School of Education and Allied Professions, interim co-director of the Center for American and World Cultures and director of the Women's Studies Program.
Michael R. Stevenson, the former assistant to the president for institutional diversity and associate provost, begins as dean for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Northern Arizona University later this month.
