William Lane Craig, research professor at Talbot Theological Seminary in California, will present "Theism, Atheism and 'The Big Bang'" at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 23, in 115 Shideler Hall.
Craig has authored or edited more than 30 books, including Theism, Atheism, and Big Bang Cosmology and The Existence of God and the Beginning of the Universe. He has also contributed more than 100 articles to journals such as The Journal of Philosophy, American Philosophical Quarterly and New Testament Studies. He has served as the president of the Philosophy of Time Society and the Evangelical Philosophical Society.
Craig has engaged in public debate with skeptical philosophers and liberal New Testament scholars such as Antony Flew, Gerd Lüdemann and John Dominic Crossan over the existence of God and the resurrection of Jesus.
The lecture, funded by the Edwin M. Yamauchi Lectureship and administered by the Oxford Community Foundation, is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by Miami University’s history department and co-sponsored by Oxford Bible Fellowship, Faith Baptist Church, the Faculty Christian Fellowship, Campus Crusade for Christ, Navigators and Catholic Campus Ministry.
Craig is a graduate of Wheaton College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He received a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Birmingham and a doctorate in theology from the University of Munich. He also spent several years (1987-1994) as a visiting research scholar at the Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium.
