Author Keith O'Brien visits Miami

Journalist and author Keith O'Brien will present "Kentucky Basketball & Long Form Narrative" at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, in 322 McGuffey Hall.

O’Brien’s first book, Outside Shot, chronicles the story of the coach and top players of a small-town Kentucky high school basketball team as they face their parents’ expectations, scouts and once-loyal fans. It was published in January by St. Martin’s Press.

O’Brien, a two-time visiting instructor of sports journalism at Miami, will meet with students and faculty in classes and other gatherings during his time on campus. His presentation is free and open to the public.

Keith O’Brien is a former reporter for the Boston Globe whose freelance work appears regularly in New York Times Magazine, Boston Globe Magazine, Boston Magazine, Runner’s World, Dallas Morning News and on National Public Radio shows.
