A film screening of "The Corporation" will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in 212 MacMillan Hall, followed by a discussion led by Kevin Armitage, associate professor, Western program. The film is part of the Robert E. Strippel Memorial Continuing Dialogue on Justice and Human Rights Program sponsored by the Center for American and World Cultures. What Is Corporate Personhood? How Does It Affect You? What Can You Do About It? The Strippel Dialogue continues the topic of corporate personhood with events Feb. 7 and Feb. 8: "We the People, Not We the Corporations" 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 115 Shideler Hall Presented by David Cobb. Cobb, an activist and lawyer, is National Projects Director of Democracy Unlimited and an official spokesperson for Move to Amend. "Implications of Corporate Personhood in Ohio" Roundtable discussions with local activists 9:30 a.m.-noon, Friday, Feb. 8, 212 MacMillan Hall Led by Greg Coleridge, American Friends Service Committee. The events are sponsored by the Robert E. Strippel Memorial Continuing Dialogue on Justice and Human Rights with support from the Center for American and World Cultures, the Center for Community Engagement in Over-the-Rhine, the departments of communication and of geography, the Harry T. Wilks Leadership Institute, the journalism and the Western programs and the Oxford Citizens for Peace and Justice. |
