Anderson received an MFA from the University of Cincinnati in 2007. He taught at Miami as an adjunct professor of drawing from 2008 to 2010. He has also taught at Northern Kentucky University. His work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions in Ohio and Kentucky, including a solo exhibition in 2011 at the Carnegie Visual and Performance Arts Center in Covington and group exhibitions at the Cincinnati Art Galleries, (2012) and the Weston Art Gallery (2011). Karla Wozniak of Knoxville, Tenn., received the second place award and $1,500 for her painting “Bed’s for Le$$.” She received an MFA from the Yale School of Art in 2005. She received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in 2011 and in 2012 was in residency at the UCross Foundation, Wyo. Suzanne Dittenber of Fairmont, Ind., won third place and $1,000 for her painting “Midden Pile I.” She received an MFA from the University of New Hampshire in 2010 and is currently an assistant professor of art at Taylor University. Works by the winners and other finalists will be exhibited through Feb. 15 at Hiestand North Gallery. Also on display through Feb. 8 is an exhibition by Dana Oldfather, winner of the 2012 Young Painters Competition. The 2013 Young Painters Competition, which focused on representational realism paintings, was judged by Lance Esplund, U.S. art critic for Bloomberg News. |
