Miami to award 1,017 diplomas during fall commencement

Miami University will present 1,017 diplomas during its fall commencement ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in Millett Hall. President David Hodge will preside over the ceremony.

Gillian Oakenfull, associate professor of marketing, will give the commencement address. Oakenfull was recently selected as the 2012 Ohio Professor of the Year.

Brief remarks will be made by Don Crain, chair of the Miami University board of trustees, and by Greg Dunlop, president of the MU Alumni Association board of directors.

The winner of the E. Phillips Knox Teaching Award, given annually to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching at the undergraduate level, will be announced.

The Men’s Glee Club and the Miami Brass Quintet will perform.

Conferral of diplomas will include:
98 associate’s, 709 bachelor’s, 197 master’s and 13 doctorates.

The program will last about 90 minutes, No tickets are necessary.
